NOTICE: (Updated March 5, 2010)

Beginning December 19, 2009, Books 'N Border Collies will be posting but only intermittently while I pursue personal goals. I plan to share some reading I'm doing, but there will be no reviews. I will, however, be sharing my exploration of vegetarian cooking and the cookbooks and websites I use to educate myself. I hope you enjoy it!

2009 Chunkster Challenge

Here is one I was waiting for! There are a number of choices for participation this year, and I'm going for the wimpy one. I don't have too many Chunksters about the house, and I tend to shy away from the few I have even though they are wonderful books. I want to make sure I get at least a couple of them read this year. Therefore, I am going for The Chubby Chunkster level, which only requires two books of over 450 pages. I can do that!

Completed: 2/2 as of April 10, 2009 **COMPLETED**

1. The Annotated Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe, Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Hollis Robbins
2. Revelation by C.J. Sansom

2009 Dewey Decimal System Reading Challenge

Like so many others, I don't read enough non-fiction. This Challenge is a perfect way to remedy that! The goal is to read 1 book from each Dewey Century per month from 000 to 999. (Since there are 10 catagories and 12 months, I'm not sure if the total we're aiming for is 10 or 12, but I've got a question in regarding that. I'll assume 10 for now.) All I needed was a really good excuse to get out of the fiction sections of my library and check out all the other things I'm missing! I will be posting my choices as I go along, because that exploration is going to be a big part of the fun all year long.

2009 Decades Challenge

This was the first Challenge I ever signed up for and the first one I actually finished. I'm excited to do it again for 2009. I'm not going to pick an exact plan, but in the spirit of "9", I'm going to cover 1910-1990. I'll decide the specific books as I go along. Click on the year for a list of potential reads. So many great ones to choose from!!
