NOTICE: (Updated March 5, 2010)

Beginning December 19, 2009, Books 'N Border Collies will be posting but only intermittently while I pursue personal goals. I plan to share some reading I'm doing, but there will be no reviews. I will, however, be sharing my exploration of vegetarian cooking and the cookbooks and websites I use to educate myself. I hope you enjoy it!

Released Today

What is this? A book related post?? These seem to be in short supply here lately. But I promise that is changing very, very soon. Within days we will be back to our regularly scheduled programming of Books and Books and Reviews and Border Collies. I give my solemn pledge! I have about 120 pages left of Devil's Brood, which is being released today and is a fabulous book!! Then I'm going to go crazy with shorter books with bigger typeface. :-)

In addition to Devil's Brood, there are some other great books coming out today. Here are a couple that I'm pretty sure will be in my personal library within a matter of days, if not hours:

To Hold The Crown by Jean Plaidy -- The story of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York

I Can Has Cheezburger? by Professor Happycat -- An LOLcat Colleckshun. A must have!!

Coming next week:

A Lion Among Men by Gregory Maguire -- The much-anticipated third volume of the Wicked Years, we return to Oz, seen now through the eyes of the Cowardly Lion -- the once tiny cub defended by Elphaba in Wicked.

I also have Paul Auster's Man In The Dark waiting for me at the library, and an Anything Agatha Challenge that I haven't even started yet. Lots of good stuff to get to!

Happy Reading, Everyone!

I can't wait for a Lion Among Men...I love the Wicked series!

Gregory Maguire is coming to Atlanta in a few weeks, so I think I'm going to see him.

Amy ~ I was thinking it came out today. I was a little deflated when I realized I had another week to go. :-(

I think I'm the only one who hasn't like Gregory Maguire's books.

Bermudaonion ~ It depends on what it is for me. Truthfully, I was a little mystified by Wicked, and I didn't a care for Son Of A Witch. I *loved* Confessions Of An Ugly Stepsister, and thought Mirror, Mirror was very interesting. With this one I'm more intrigued with the subject matter of the Cowardly Lion than in love with this particular series.

Great list of books here!

I loved Wicked, have Son of a Witch (but haven't read it), really liked Confessions, but I don't remember caring for Mirror, Mirror bery much.

Ladytink ~ I'd like to read Wicked again someday, as I read it when it very first came out, and I think I had very different expectations of it. I think that's why I didn't appreciate it as much as I maybe could have. I really want to read Lost, also. I've had it on the shelf here since it came out in paperback.

I'll be picking up A Lion Among Men. I have all the others, might as well add this one too.

Ah, Dar! Spoken like a true addict! LOL!

Just as a reminder, Lezlie - your choices for the Anything Agatha Challenge can be short stories. I still have many to go as well, but it should go fast once I put my mind to it. :)

Oh I read Wicked WAY before it became popular so I had no expectations. I had picked it up at a yard sale b/c of the title.

Woohoo! I had no idea there was a new Maguire coming out!

Joy ~ I forgot about the short story option. Thanks for the reminder!

Ladytink ~ I think I just had too much of the movie in my brain. :-)

Andi ~ I just learned of it a few days ago, too.

Michlle ~ She really is! It's so detailed you almost forget you're reading fiction until someone starts to talk and you suddenly think, "How does she know he said that?" :-)
