NOTICE: (Updated March 5, 2010)

Beginning December 19, 2009, Books 'N Border Collies will be posting but only intermittently while I pursue personal goals. I plan to share some reading I'm doing, but there will be no reviews. I will, however, be sharing my exploration of vegetarian cooking and the cookbooks and websites I use to educate myself. I hope you enjoy it!

Official 2009 Challenge Sites

They're popping up everywhere! And I'm trying to decide which ones to do. I did learn this year that I can't plan my whole year of reading in January. I'll never follow it. But I don't want to totally skip the challenges. I think I'll sign up for short challenges and only one or two at a time. But keep a link to this post handy, because I'll keep updating it with the Challenges I'm finding whether I'm signing up or not and you can check them out to see if you want to join in the fun!

I think I'm going to wait a little while on these. I have a ways to go on my current challenges.

Bermudaonion ~ Mine are looking fairly hopeless this year, but I can't seem to stop myself from mulling over next year's choices already. It's like literary crack. :-)

Ha! Literary crack! That's EXACTLY what it is!! :-) I can't help myself either, the problem is that I want to join them all as usual! I definitely did not learn my lesson in 2008. :-)

Lezlie said...

Joanna ~ Me, too. There are so many good ones being announced already and there are ones from this year that I'm going to want to do/try again. We're hopeless. :-)

I've seen all these challenges popping up. I may pick one or two but that will be it. I'm having trouble with the two I have. lol.

Dar ~ I think I have some from this year that I haven't even started yet. :-)

OMG Lezlie, now that's funny. Hey, how's Max feeling with the cooler weather coming or here?

Lezlie said...

Dar ~ Thanks for asking! He's good. A little bit stiff if he doesn't get enough exercise, but good overall. He had an agility lesson last night. We went easy on him, but he ran great for the few runs he did. He mostly shows signs when he's real tired at night, poor little guy. But then he's good again in the morning. I'll give him hugs for you! :-)

Darlene said...

That's so good to hear Lezlie. Yes lots of hugs are in order.

What a great idea! I need to learn not to sign up for so many in the beginning so that I'm not totally governed by challenge reads next year--but sometimes they are so hard to pass up!

OMG, literary crack! I love it! So many challenges, so Little Time. There's also the Read and Review Challange, which I signed up for. I am also waiting awhile to decide which challenges because I'm certain that more will be announced. The 9 for 2009 sounds interesting.

Lezlie said...

Trish ~ I have a feeling that despite my best intentions, I'll do the same thing I did this year: Sign up for too many. :-) It seems it always leads to some great reading whether you actually finish the challenge or not.

Teddy Rose ~ I have my eye on the 9 for 2009 also. I like the wide range of topics.

Oh! This is more exciting than the first stack of Christmas catalogs! I am going to mull these over and decide what to pick!

But I think I should also go and figure out what challenges I did in 2008 or still have going. Time to get organized.

Lezlie said...

RCR ~ I need to organize mine for the rest of the year, too. I know there are at least a couple I can still finish off!

Thanks so much for posting about my challenge. I think it's perfect for anyone who struggles with regular challenges (like me) as you can read whatever you want.

Lezlie said...

Jodie ~ You're welcome! It's a good one, and I hope you get lots of participants!

Carrie ~ I can't believe I missed that one before! I'm thinking about joining, too. I have some Cicero essays here that are in need of reading. . . ;-)

Not that I am counting this year as a total loss, but I know when I'm whupped. LOL

I will continue reading, but with relatives on their way, I know that what I have on my plate now just can't be completed until next year.

What I have learned is that I do like the challenges, I just have to limit myself to only so many and to not get too down on myself for not completing them...kinda what I did this year.

I love your blog and your reviews and look forward to trying to keep up with you and the gang next year!!

Lezlie said...

Hi, J.C.! Definitely don't get down on yourself for not finishing challenges. It's fun to give them a try, and if there are a few that don't get finished, oh, well. It was fun to try!

Have a great Christmas, and rest up for next year's attempt! :-)

Thank you Thank you Thank you! for posting this list :o)

I've been a bit out of circulation for the last couple of months and have missed finding out about the many challenges available. This list is a great help.

Terri ~ You're welcome! I'm glad people are finding it helpful! I know I'm missing a few, but I think I caught most of them.

thanks for the list, though! :D

Raven ~ Which Challenge are you looking for? I haven't kept this list up since about May or so, so if it's a recent one it won't be on here.
