NOTICE: (Updated March 5, 2010)

Beginning December 19, 2009, Books 'N Border Collies will be posting but only intermittently while I pursue personal goals. I plan to share some reading I'm doing, but there will be no reviews. I will, however, be sharing my exploration of vegetarian cooking and the cookbooks and websites I use to educate myself. I hope you enjoy it!

July Already!

Wow. This year is moving fast.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 24 Hour Read-A-Thon! I did not join in the fun, but I had a great time reading all the posts from it. I may not be able to resist next time. It seemed like a fantastic challenge!

My summer reading has been going well. The running list is at the bottom of my blog. I may not finish all my challenges this year, but I should clear the 100+ mark quite handily. Yippee!

Max and Skye are being good boys, loving summer and getting ready for their next trial at the end of the month. We've been working on our Snooker skills, and if it ever is not raining during our lessons, Max and I will be working on his little problem with the swimming pool. :-) Our next competition is July 26 and 27.

On my one and only professional sports front, the NBA Draft has come and gone, and I'm very happy with the Timberwolves' acquisition of Kevin Love and Mike Miller. (I don't know anything about the other two we got in the big trade.) I'm sure we haven't seen the last of the roster changes, and I think it's going to be a fun year while they continue to rebuild! Peter and I went to the Official Draft Party at the Target Center, and the most exciting part for me was when we just happened to meet one of our players, Sebastian Telfair, while we were in a restaurant where he was picking up some food. He was super nice and chatted with us while he was waiting for his order. Peter's favorite part was getting his picture taken with a half dozen members of the Dance Team. :-)

That's about it for me. Let me know what fun things you have coming up this summer!

Hi Lezlie!

Are you going away at all? I just spent a week in Poland and we're going to Ireland for a week, like last year but with my parents and my Mom's brother and his fanily as well! A family experiment, hopefully we won't kill each other! :-)

Hi, Joanna! I hope your trip to Ireland goes well. It sounds like fun!

We won't be traveling. I have a thing about traveling. I pretty much have anxiety attacks if I'm away from home over night. Strange but true. I also have a serious hang-up about other people watching our pets. I just want them to be with me. Maybe after we retire we can take up RV traveling where they can all come with us. That might help with my issues. :-) I'm a weirdo. But I love traveling vicariously through books and the tales of friends who go to fun places!

I need to get Miss Daisy into agility. She's got SO MUCH ENERGY and is so agile, I think she'd have a great time. Maybe we should work on "off" and "no" a bit more first, though.

Yay for summer!

Andi ~ You'd probably like it as much as Daisy would! The bond it creates between you and your dog is like nothing else. I'll bet there are plenty of places to train in Texas! :-)

I didn't attend the 24 Hour Read-A-Thon, but thought it was a cool thing! I didn't have the time. And even if I did, I am not sure I could read 24 straight hours. I'm too ADD. :(

My mom is coming here for a 2 week visit starting next week. Then in August Bill and I going on a road trip to visit the dinosour museum in Drumheller, AB and then on to the Edmonton Folk Music festival, a four day festival.

Robbie was going to say with his best friend, Charlie and his Mom. We always hated to leave him even though he loves his surrgate family. Now Bill and I can't wait to leave town. Every where we look there are reminders of Robbie.

J. Kaye ~ That was why I hesitated also, but Peter said he wouldn't mind giving the next one a try, too. It would be fun to have someone there to help stay awake.

Teddy Rose ~ A dinosaur museum!! Now *that* sounds like fun. I looooove dinosaurs!

My heart just aches for you and Bill. Peter and I still see Miss Cleo in her spot in front of the heater. It's so, so hard, especially at the beginning. But your friends are here for you. Big hugs!

Sadly I'm doing nothing this summer. But that just means more time to read at home!

Natasha ~ Reading is the best summer thing there is to do! :-)

I am with you Lezlie - I love to travel through books. There are so many wonderful places to read about and I love to read an author that makes you feel like you are right there.

Traveling is hard for me with 4 kids - so I think our only excursions this summer will be to the zoo - we have memberships there so we can take our time going through because we know we can come back anytime.

Can't wait to read about the next agility trial!! One of these days I will have an agility dog again.

Kara ~ I haven't been to a zoo in forever. That sounds like fun! Our last couple of agility lessons have gone wonderfully, so I'm finding myself getting pretty high hopes for this next outing. Somtimes it's hard to remember that having fun is the most important part. We like to win! :-)
