NOTICE: (Updated March 5, 2010)

Beginning December 19, 2009, Books 'N Border Collies will be posting but only intermittently while I pursue personal goals. I plan to share some reading I'm doing, but there will be no reviews. I will, however, be sharing my exploration of vegetarian cooking and the cookbooks and websites I use to educate myself. I hope you enjoy it!

One Happy Agility Dog!

For those of you who are curious, here is a video of Max and I on one of our agility runs from the other weekend. This is a "Standard" run, meaning we're running a course that has been predetermined by the judge, no making it up as we go along. :-) It's not the smoothest run on the planet. He is a handful sometimes! But no one can deny that Max is a dog who loooooves agility! Just for the record, he ran crazy, but this turned out to be a qualifying run, the latest in our quest for his CPE Agility Trial Champion title:

Max is beautiful. I don't know how you can keep track of where he has to go next!

Bermudaonion ~ Thanks! There are actually numbered cones next to the obstacles that we follow. We can see maps of the course when we get there in the morning. Before the actual run, we have a chance to go out on the actual course without our dogs, walk it through a few times, and plan how we're going to handle it. Then we have one shot with our furry partner to get it right. It can get stressful out there!

That was fantastic Max & Lezlie! He sure is excited and you can tell he's in his element on the course. I love to watch the agility runs when they're on tv. Just great!

Soooo cool!!! I think Daisy would make a great agility dog if I could get her (and I) into it. Thanks for sharing. Definitely made me smile!

JoAnn ~ Thanks! You should see him when he's not running like he's crazed. :-)

Dar ~ Thank you! Max would run agility until his little legs fell off. Nothing makes him happier!

Andi ~ I knew you'd smile! :-) I'd love to see Daisy getting her agility game on!

Teddy ~ Thank you! And he likes to talk about it on the course. A LOT! :-)

I'm so glad you posted this! My mother-in-law does sheep trials, so that's all I've ever seen before--this looks like much more fun! What a great duo you guys make--I know those Border Collies can be a handful!

I just figured all that talking Max did on the course was his strategizing with you. LOL!

Trish ~ Thanks! I'm glad people are enjoying watching it. Skye would definitely argue that sheep herding is *much* more exciting! :-)

Teddy Rose ~ Mostly he's telling me to hurry up. "Come on, Mom!! Tell me where to go!! We still have a whole bunch of stuff to jump over!!!" :-)

how cool! it's just like watching the agility trials on tv - but this time with someone I "know" :)

Heather ~ Why, thank you! If only we were as slick as those folks on TV. They are *really* amazing! We just have a ton of fun, which is what it's all about for us! :-)

I just happened upon your blog -- following a link from somewhere else -- and I've been enjoying reading some of your posts. But I felt I had to comment on this one to say that Max is just adorable and he was obviously having a great time :-) I love to watch agility. I wish we had a dog that I could try that with -- our rescue dog would look at me like I was crazy :-)

Lezlie said...

Marie ~ Welcome! And thank you so much for taking the time to comment! Agility is such a great sport. The bond it builds between you and your dog is like nothing I've ever experienced before. Even if we never competed again we would continue to practice the sport. You have a rescue dog? Yay!! Our other Border Collie, Skye, is a rescue, also!

Serena ~ Max is a happy dog all around. But he gets out on the course and he's downright ecstatic! :-)

He looks like a furry little black bullet almost! Seems to be having lots of fun :)

Ladytink ~ The first time my dad ever saw him run, he was doing a course that was all tunnels. When we were finished, my dad said, "He looks like he's getting shot out of a cannon!" :-)
