NOTICE: (Updated March 5, 2010)

Beginning December 19, 2009, Books 'N Border Collies will be posting but only intermittently while I pursue personal goals. I plan to share some reading I'm doing, but there will be no reviews. I will, however, be sharing my exploration of vegetarian cooking and the cookbooks and websites I use to educate myself. I hope you enjoy it!

My *Other* Addiction

I don't have any book news, but my alter ego has broken down and picked up a new pair of platform boots for the new and improved Diva Disco sets for this fall. Check these out! (I bought the black patent version.)

I've been wearing platform boots for my shows for a couple of years now, so I have a lot of practice, but any bets on how long before I break my neck in these babies? :-) I'm going to have to be a singer for the rest of my life just so I have an excuse to wear all these cool boots I'm accumulating! Darn. LOL!

I doubt I could even stand in those, let alone walk!

How fun to go and buy stuff like that! Now you know that you will have to post a picture of you wearing these boots eventually!

Wow, you could do some damage with those boots. They're like weapons!

Now those are some serious boots! I agree that we need a picture of you wearing them or better yet, a video of you walking in them!

WOW! Those are truly impressive (and a little scary). Scary in that my ankles cringe just looking at them. Rock 'em, girl!

Bermudaonion ~ I'm not sure I'll be able to either, but it will be so worth trying!

Jo-Jo ~ I will do that!

Charley ~ We decided I now officially need to learn "These Boots Were Made For Walkin'" Even though these were clearly made for standing still. Or sitting. :-)

Daphne ~ I'm guess the initial walking test will be pretty funny! I've never had a pair this huge before. It will be a challenge!

Rose City Reader ~ As another friend told me when she saw them: I'll look cool for as long as I can remain upright. :-)

Andi ~ It's not so much my ankles that cringe as my arches. Here's a show biz secret: I buy boots like these a size bigger than my normal size, then put on two pairs of arch support socks when I wear them for a show. Sexy, huh? :-)

OMG!! I could NEVER walk in those. Be careful....lol!

JoAnn ~ Thankfully, all the stages we work on are pretty small, so there's not much ground to cover! LOL!

OMG, the heels on those babies!!! I can guarantee I wouldn't even be able to take one step without landing on my butt. lol.

Dar ~ It's gonna be weird, that's for sure! I'll have to watch some old KISS videos and see if I can pick up any balancing tips. LOL!

holy cow, girl! you wear those to shows! How can you run in those...Kiss videos come to mind...lol

Have a great time with those new shoes.

Serena ~ Oh, gosh! Not agility shows! That'd be suicide. :-) They're for my Diva shows, when I'm singing. KISS and Stevie Nicks are huge inspirations when it comes to my on-stage persona. I'll bet no one would ever guess. ;-)

I love high heels but after seeing these boots I realize I'm a wimp - I can only wear a 4" max :)

Those are some serious heels!

Iliana ~ The nice thing about platform boots is that with the front platform, your foot is sitting at less of an angle than it would be in pumps. The difference is only about 3 inches, so technically these should be easier to walk in. In theory anyway. :-)

Michelle ~ I knew you'd approve. :-) If these work out, I have my eye on another pair that is just as awesome. I'm such a junkie!

Oh my Lezlie--no wonder you're such a hot mama!! I love shoes and I used to love platforms like this until my feet started protesting. I've had surgery on one foot and am comtemplating have it done on the other (I have bunions). So, wear em for me...

Lezlie said...

Trish ~ I will dedicate their first wearing to you! :-) I only wear things like this for shows. Otherwise, I am totally a running shoe girl. Anything else is a bother.

My BF would kill to have me wear those! LOL ... were they expensive?

Monica ~ Peter smiled awfully big when I got them out of the box. :-) They're not too bad for price. With a 15% discount coupon, I picked these up for less than $60. I got them here:
