NOTICE: (Updated March 5, 2010)

Beginning December 19, 2009, Books 'N Border Collies will be posting but only intermittently while I pursue personal goals. I plan to share some reading I'm doing, but there will be no reviews. I will, however, be sharing my exploration of vegetarian cooking and the cookbooks and websites I use to educate myself. I hope you enjoy it!

Booking Through Thursday

Do your reading habits change in the Spring? Do you read gardening books? Even if you don’t have a garden? More light fiction than during the Winter? Less? Travel books? Light paperbacks you can stick in a knapsack?

Or do you pretty much read the same kinds of things in the Spring as you do the rest of the year?

What I read doesn't change with the seasons, but how much I read does. Unlike most of the answers I've seen this morning, my reading actually goes up with the coming of the warmer weather rather than down. I think that's why I get so excited when that first bit of spring creeps in! The reason is easy. Basketball season is over. It makes me sad that I don't get to watch my Timberwolves for a few months, but it opens up all kinds of free time! The summer months are spent hanging out on the patio with book in hand instead of in front of the TV or at the Target Center cheering my guys on in person!

Stay tuned for all those extra reviews I'll be able to write! :-)

My quantity goes up in the winter and down in the spring, I think. I've never really thought about it until today :)

Well I can definitely understand your reasoning. But all my favourite sports are summer ones so it works the other way round for me. By the way my order arrived from the Teaching Company on Tuesday. I'm still knocked out by the quality of their service and the courses I've bought are exactly what I was looking for. I really owe you one.

Good point. Depending on what interests you, the diversions in winter can certainly be just as, if not more, plentiful.

Deb ~ I think I'm the opposite of most. This question is kind of funny coming up now, because I was just telling Peter how excited I was to have more reading time now. :-)

Table Talk ~ I'm *so* excited for you! I was thrilled when I discovered them, and it's such a fun thing to share with others. Which ones did you end up getting?? I'm dying to know!!

John ~ Exactly! Except for dog agility, our summer diversions consist of the grill and the lawn chair. :-)

I bought the one on Ancient Greek Civilisation to get me going on the Classical side. It looks to be mostly history, but there is a new one on the cultural links between Greece and Rome so I got that as well. I can buy the one on the history of Rome next time around. I also bought the one on the Classics of British Literature. Because my first degree was in Drama and my subsequent degrees are in Language Studies I have great gaps in my understanding of English Literature so I'm going to spend the next few months filing them. Eventually I shall want some of the art and music ones as well, but I shall have to wait for those to come on sale. We will be so well educated, you and I that people will have to pay to speak to us:)

Table Talk ~ LOL! Great choices! I liked "Ancient Greek Civilizations" a lot. And the "History of Ancient Rome" is fabulous, so you won't be sorry if you order that one in the future. I'm green jealous of the Classics of British Lit! I'm still debating ordering that packaged with the Russian Lit. As for the music ones, Peter loved "How To Listen To And Understand Great Music". The professor is very funny!

You're going to have sooooo much fun!

My reading choices aren't seasonally affected. But now you've got me wondering whether I read more, or for longer, at certain times of the year. I shall have to think about that!

Lesley ~ These BTT questions always get me thinking in some odd direction, too!

I always used to read more during the holidays when I was working full time - now I'm at home I'm finding I'm actually reading less! Blogging could have something to do with that.

Books Please ~ Blogging definitely takes up some time! But it also nudges me to read more and think a little harder.
