NOTICE: (Updated March 5, 2010)

Beginning December 19, 2009, Books 'N Border Collies will be posting but only intermittently while I pursue personal goals. I plan to share some reading I'm doing, but there will be no reviews. I will, however, be sharing my exploration of vegetarian cooking and the cookbooks and websites I use to educate myself. I hope you enjoy it!

Book Depository, I Love You!

I have officially fallen for Book Depository and their "No Shipping Charge" policy. And now I'm in big trouble, because I can get so many of Jean Plaidy's books that aren't reissued here in the states yet. I'm currently reading her books about Lucrezia Borgia, and I just ordered her Medici Trilogy, which are pictured here. Aren't they beautiful?? I mean, despite the continuation of the whole "headless woman" look. :-) And I can get her French Revolution Series and I can get the Plantagenet Saga without having to read the nasty old ones in the library. (I mean that with love, Mr. Library.) Oh, and the Ferdinand and Isabella Trilogy is available, too! This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful relationship . . .

I love Jean Plaidy as well. This is one author that is on my "keeper" shelf.

Mary ~ I always learn so much history when I read her work. I can never part with the books once I have them either.

Oh dear. I must go over there. If this gets out of control, Mr RR may just hunt you down, LOL.

I love Book Depository as well! It's the place where I buy most of my books!

Oh no! Why did you introduce me to the Book Depository? Now I am never going to get any work done.

Never heard of Book Depository -- OH NO!! I don't know if I'm happy or sad about another place to buy books?? LOL

I haven't heard of this one either but I think I'm going to try and resist all temptation and not look. I'm terrible when it comes to book buying. As soon as that Borders 40% coupon hits my email, I'm at the store. Shameful!

Michele ~ I merrily accept full responsibility. :-)

Marg ~ Most things I want I can get easily here in the cities or via Amazon, but this opened up a whole new field of possibilities!

Rose City Reader ~ Because I like to share all my bad habits. :-)

Diane ~ Be happy! Be happy! I held off as long as I could, but those Jean Plaidy books just kept calling to me . . .

Trish ~ I hear you. Peter teases me all the time, because I can't let a bookstore coupon expire without a big argument with myself. Like I told Diane, if it weren't for those Jean Plaidy books, I could have held out longer, but such is life and we only get one with which to pack our houses full of books. :-)

I've used the Book Depository a few times, especially for sending books overseas and it sure has been wonderful. I am glad you are enjoying the online store too!

A new book source AND an author whose work I keep meaning to try....you're killing me, Lezlie!

Literary Feline ~ I was surprised at how quickly I received my order. It only took a week to get here, and I paid less than it cost to buy two comparable books at a local store.

JoAnn ~ Now you have no excuses! ;-)

I haven't used them yet, still an amazon addict... maybe I'll have another look! :-)

Joanna ~ Amazon is my first choice 90% of the time, but for books that aren't available in the states, this is awesome!

Isn't it great? I love Book Depository, as well. If they can do it, it looks to me like everyone else should be able to do it (big companies, anyway).

Lezlie said...

That's a good point, Lisa. But think how big our TBR piles would be then!! :-) (Speaking only of free book shipping, that is.)

So happy you are enjoying Book Depository and Jean Plaidy.
She is awesome.

Not crazy about the headless woman look but I do love these dresses. Off to check out that site...

Wisteria ~ She is, isn't she? My head about exploded when I found I could get all these old titles of hers!

Ladytink ~ I love the clothes, too! Because of that, I hardly notice the "headless" think on historicals. It's much more obvious and weird to me on modern lit.

I've used Book Depository a few times now and I love it. A few months ago I could even get some books cheaper there than at Amazon in the States.

It's also great for when things come out in the U.K. first.

Glad you found them, too!

I saw something today about Book Depository starting in the US as well.

Michelle ~ I am currently using them specifically for the Jean Plaidy books, but I'm sure that will expand. And too quickly at that! :-)

Marg ~ They sure will give Amazon a run for their money!

I was just mentioning to a friend that I really would like to know more about Isabella and Ferdinand! Book Depository is dangerous - in a good way of course :)

I've not read any Jean Plaidy which is so weird to me as I saw my mom read a ton of her books when I was growing up. I must check one out one of these days. Enjoy your new books!

Iliana ~ I've not read as many as I would like. ;-) I almost ordered the Spanish trilogy yesterday, but I opted for some Elizabeth Chadwick, as I keep hearing wonderful things about her, too. I can't wait to compare them!
