Newsweek's 50 Books for Our Times & Top 100 Books

List Junky Alert: A friend just told me about these Newsweek reading lists. I've only superficially perused them so far, and I'm particularly interested in the "50 Books For Our Times" list. I'll be taking a closer look later, but for others who hadn't seen them, here are links:

  4. JoAnn ~ You're welcome! The Top 100 List isn't too surprising as it is a mixture of other lists, but the "Books For Our Times" list looks really great! There is a ton of stuff on there I'm interested in reading.

  5. Yes, that was by far the more interesting list.

I have a bookmark around page 350 in The Way We Live Now. I started it with an on-line group and then got behind schedule and really need to get back to it. It was excellent!
Brooklyn was a surprise; I recently listened to that and loved it. Hope to get to Elegance of the Hedgehog soon, too.

  7. JoAnn ~ Cool! I saw The Looming Tower (I think that's the title) at the library today and almost snapped it up. It's going to be a fun list to play with.

Veronica ~ You're welcome! It *is* really fun to find lists that don't look like rehashes of all the other ones we've seen.

  10. I love looking through book lists to see how many books I've read :)

I just saw the 50 list on Vasilly's blog. Thank you for the link to the meta-list. Yay, more books to either check off or add to my radar.

  12. Interesting... haven't read hardly any of these books. I wonder if they are actually books I would enjoy or if they are all serious reads. They kind of all sounded serious to me, with the exception of a few.

  13. Kim ~ I thought the list looked a little daunting also, although I still would like to take a run at it sometime!

  14. I was REALLY surprised by some of the titles that popped onto this list. These lists always make me wonder just who those list-markers are anyway.
